The FSA ID:  What you need to know

What is the FSA ID?

The FSA ID is a username and password that you will use to log into certain U.S. Department of Education websites, and electronically sign the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA)

Who should create a FSA ID? 

Students interested in receiving federal student aid should create a FASFA ID.  You AND any parent electronically signing the FASFA will need their own separate FSA ID

When should I create a FSA ID?

Create a FSA ID as soon as possible.  Due to processing time, we recommend you apply at least 3 days BEFORE filing the FASFA or attending a FASFA completion event.

Do I need an email account to create a FSA ID?

Yes.  Anyone creating a FSA ID will need their own separate account
