Dr. Keith Hartbauer

Dr. Keith Hartbauer was appointed Superintendent of Schools for the Brownsville Area School District in 2017. Before joining Brownsville, Dr. Hartbauer has spent the last 28 years working for some high performing school districts in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. He has worked in public education as a Health and Physical Education teacher, head football coach, assistant high school principal, and head high school principal.
Dr. Hartbauer earned a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Health and Physical Education / Athletic Training from Slippery Rock University where he also obtained a Master’s Degree in Exercise Science. He continued his education by earning a Master’s Degree in Administrative Leadership from Duquesne University and his Superintendent’s Certificate from California University of Pennsylvania. To complete his educational studies, Dr. Hartbauer earned a Doctorate Degree in Advanced Leadership Studies from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Hartbauer resides in the South Hills of Pittsburgh with his wife and 4 children. He enjoys golfing, swimming, exercising, and watching the Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins games.
